School Opening

The Watambune School will be opened in July and we are very excited to be sending representatives from QHHC to the festivities. Photos will be posted up after the event, please share them around your school and with other members of the QHHC community.

Our Next Project: A boarding house in Palu

We are pleased to announce our next project with the QHHC - a boarding facility in Palu, Central Sulawesi. This facility will enable rural children with ability
from the region, the opportunity to attend the Salvation Army High School in Palu in a safe and nurturing environment.
Land has been purchased and the plans have been drawn up - so our fund raising efforts are required to make this project a reality.
The boarding house will accommodate 25 children and a house family that will care for the students. The location is just around the corner from the High School, a short convenient walk.
We are looking for partner organisations to help us raise the money for this really worthwhile project.
For more information please email ssouth@cranrook.nsw.edu.au

Here's a short video about our November trip to lay the foundation stones at Watambune School. The new school will be completed in July.

Introduction

watambuneschool.jpg

Welcome to our wiki for our combined fund raising effort to build a school in Watambune, Central Sulawesi.
This is a very exciting project connecting PYP schools in different locations in Australia and Indonesia. We will be sharing information, learning about Central Sulawesi and the Palu area and the lives and culture of the children we are assisting.
We will be sharing our fund raising efforts, our successes and challenges as we work towards our goal of $25,000.

Use the navigation bar to access the different pages that make up this wiki.

I look forward to our collaboration and communication through the year. I hope all three schools will contribute lots of information, photos and videos to this site and engage in discussions regularly.

NEWS: Ms Doble and Mrs South visited Red Hill on 23rd May to launch their participation in the Project. It was a great visit and we are looking forward to connecting the 2 schools in our effort to raise money for Watambune and do some learning together.
15th June
Cranbrook CC committee met today and talked about a "Walk for Watambune" walkathon for Term 3. Lots of great thoughts then about novelty dress attracting more sponsorship and inviting parents to the event where they can buy coffee and cupcakes.
